Romantic relationships within the workplace are bound to happen. But when do these relationships present a legal risk for employers? During this session we will review the risks related to romantic relationships in the workplace, including sexual harassment, and will offer practical guidance for managing these relationships among co-workers and supervisors, avoiding conflicts of interest, and responding to claims of discrimination and harassment that may arise from such relationships.

About the Speaker: Margaret “Peg” O’Brien, Director, McLane Middleton

Peg O’Brien is an attorney at McLane Middleton where she serves as Vice Chair of the firm’s Employment Law Group. She assists employers with legal compliance and risk management in all phases of the employment relationship, as well as defense of employers in matters pending before government agencies and courts. Peg provides on-site and virtual training for employees and supervisors on harassment prevention and documentation and discipline best practices, and other employment law matters. In addition, she conducts workplace investigations as an internal or outside independent investigator, and recently completed the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination’s Certified Course on Conducting Discrimination Complaint Investigations.
