About MAHRA

The Manchester Area Human Resources Association (MAHRA) was originally formed in 1954 by a small group of local professionals who were interested in sharing information and experiences about personnel issues. MAHRA became affiliated with the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) in 1973 and today maintains a membership of over 230 active members representing a diverse range of professionals working in the interests of human resource management for private and public organizations of all types and sizes, educational institutions, and service firms that support the profession.

To serve the evolving needs of today's HR professionals, MAHRA offers monthly program meetings, seminars, professional certification opportunities, networking events, and social gatherings. The chapter also provides members with information on legal and legislative matters while representing the interests of the profession at both the state and national levels.

MAHRA proudly serves HR professionals and business leaders with human resource responsibilities throughout the Greater Manchester area, including New Hampshire's only master's-level HR student chapter. As a nonprofit 501(c)(6) organization and one of seven local SHRM chapters across New Hampshire, MAHRA has earned recognition over the years as a SHRM Excel Chapter and SHRM Foundation Chapter Champion.

Giving back to the community is an important part of MAHRA's mission. Through December 2026, MAHRA's charitable partner is Waypoint, supporting its efforts to strengthen individuals and families throughout New Hampshire.
